Get Informed
Subscribe to our monthly newsletter to find out about upcoming events and opportunities to support women.
North York Women’s Centre is a community of diverse women. We work to advance equality and empower woman-identifying and gender-diverse people to effect positive change. Some of the ways that we do that include:

- Offering a series of free women’s empowerment group programs that build your skills, strengths and resilience and provide peer-to-peer learning and support.
- Creating a safe and supportive space for you to connect with other women at weekly drop-in lounge sessions. In addition to general conversation, these sessions sometimes cover topics such as wellness, self-confidence, gender equality and community building. Other times, we host women’s lounge workshops based on participants’ requests. Is there a topic you want to learn more about? Bring your questions to the lounge and we can explore how to find the answer together.
- Providing confidential and non-judgmental one-on-one support for individual women via phone, email and online. When requested, we can help you figure out how to access services such as counselling, housing and legal advice.
- Supporting pathways to employment through job readiness workshops that help you overcome barriers and get access to resources offering education and training.

- Providing one-to-one digital literacy support to help you use the internet to access our programs and services, get information and connect with your community and loved ones.
- Creating community, working for systemic change and hosting or participating in events that mark key dates such as International Women's Day and the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
Accessibility of Our Women’s Programs
North York Women’s Centre recognizes the dignity and worth of all people and is committed to providing services fairly and equitably. We aim to create a harmonious environment free from discrimination, harassment and hate.

How You Can Help
Land Acknowledgement
NYWC acknowledges that we are on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands. In the spirit of reconciliation, we commit to honouring the land and its Indigenous heritage.
