Support women impacted by Gender Based Violence by Donating to NYWC

All programs and services provided by NYWC are free of charge so that people impacted by gender-based violence can have the support they need to navigate the complex and personal path to healing and prevent further abuse.

How your donation helps

With your generous donations, NYWC can expand our services, staff our information and resource line, and provide more one-on-one appointments. We can also support women with wraparound supports by purchasing hygiene supplies and toiletries, menstrual products, and TTC passes to share with service users who need them. This helps us give our service users one less thing to worry about.

For nearly 40 years, North York Women’s Centre has supported women and gender-diverse people surviving gender-based violence: providing education, community, and one-on-one peer support in a compassionate, non-judgmental space.

Now, we’re moving to a new location in the heart of North York. It’s a huge step forward: a transit-accessible, street-facing space where we can welcome more women, partner with other services, and expand our programming.

But we need your help.

We’re a small, community-powered organization — and this move comes with big costs.

We’re raising $25,000 to:

  • Build private call rooms for one-on-one support
  • Make the space safe, welcoming, and accessible
  • Cover essential moving and renovation costs

With your help, we’ll create a space where women can connect, learn, recover, and build the skills they need to prevent further violence and thrive.

It’s more than a building. It’s a soft place to land.

Other Ways to Give

Tribute Gift

Donations make meaningful gifts for special occasions such as birthdays, Mother’s Day or just to let someone know they are special to you. If you donate via the CanadaHelps form above, you can send a card with your message to the person you’re sharing your gift with.

In Memory Gift

Make a donation in memory of a loved one. If you donate via the CanadaHelps form above, you can send a card acknowledging your thoughtful gift to the bereaved family or friend.

Workplace Giving

You can designate all or part of your United Way payroll donations to NYWC by entering our information in the appropriate area of the pledge form (usually on the back). Enter North York Women’s Resource Centre (our legal name) and our charitable registration number 14026 3013 RR001. Check with your employer about other ways of donating through payroll deductions.

Check to see if your employer matches donations made by employees and encourage them to match your gift.

Let us know if you are donating through your employer. Often employers remove donors’ names for privacy reasons, so we won’t know who has made the gift unless you tell us.

Donate a Vehicle

If you have a car, truck or van you don’t want anymore, consider donating it to NYWC. We use CharityCar to facilitate donations of used vehicles. CharityCar will pick up your used car for free, dispose of it in an environmentally-safe way, and give the proceeds to NYWC. They will even help you with the forms required. NYWC will then provide you with a charitable tax receipt. To donate a vehicle, visit Charitycar.ca.

Planned Giving

Consider making a gift through your will or designate NYWC as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or retirement funds. Remember to talk to your loved ones about your plans and why it is important to you.
